šIntegrum Scientific is heading to the ASTMH Annual Meeting!
Conducting infectious disease research in challenging environments requires more than scientific expertiseāit takes strong partnerships, careful planning, and the ability to adapt when the unexpected happens.
We’re excited to share that Integrum Scientific’s abstract, “Obtaining Human Samples in Austere Environments for Research: Challenges and Lessons Learned,” has been accepted for poster presentation at TropMed2026!
Our poster highlights real-world experiences collaborating with research partners across five countriesāUganda, Panama, Bolivia, Georgia, and Sierra Leoneāto obtain serum, plasma, and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from individuals with 10 different infections to support the development of diagnostics, treatments, and vaccines.
š¬ Key lessons include:
⢠Building successful international research partnerships
⢠Navigating regulatory and ethical requirements
⢠Managing complex sample logistics and cold-chain challenges
⢠Preparing for unexpected disruptions and force majeure events
⢠Developing proactive strategies to reduce research risks
